Seals depicting tigers have been found in South Asia dating all the way back several thousands of years ago — all the way to the Indus Valley Civilization! Steeped in culture, history, and even art, it is no wonder that tigers are such a popular symbol across all art forms, including as tattoo designs — but what do these stunning animals really symbolize?
 
 
In Chinese symbolism, the tiger ‘is an emblem of dignity, ferocity, sternness, courage, and by itself is Yin energy‘, as well as ‘energy, royalty, generosity, and illumination‘. Tigers are also thought of as protectors of the dead, helping them find peace as they pass on.
Tigers are also often seen as a symbol of protection and is linked to the Chinese god of wealth Tsai Shen Yeh. In South Asia, the tiger is linked to Durga, the goddess of war. Traditional and tribal tattoos from these regions often feature the dragon as an important symbol.
 
Chinese mythology also considers the white tiger to be one of the five classical planets, Venus. The tiger is associated with the autumn season, the colour white, the cardinal direction of the west, and the element of metal. The white tiger is said to only appear when a king rules with absolute virtue and there is peace in all the lands. 
 
Similar beliefs are held in various other parts of East Asian, including in Japan where the tiger is a popular choice for tattoos done in Irezumi, a traditional style of tattooing in Japan.
 
In Korea, the tiger is a guardian that drives away evil spirits and brings good luck. It is thought of as a symbol of courage.

In India, the story is less fantastic and far more gruesome. Tigers are considered violent and destructive animals, having clashed with Indian people again and again; tigers have practically wiped out entire villages in India.
 
The true kings of the jungle (step aside, lions) had their popularity built upon through the efforts of creatives like William Blake in the above poem and countless other artists. Carnivals and stage shows grabbed onto this excitement as time passed.
 
To be fair, the tiger needed little help in expanding its influence. Their prowess in the jungle, gorgeous yet practical colouration, and compact strength had earned the respect (and fear) of mankind long before carnivals and zoos and Disney movies.

Time passes, and with it the fads and trends that accompany each decade revolve in and out of the background. However, they say that everything old becomes new again, and that often becomes obvious as our kids start showing up in our old, thrift store cast offs thinking they are the next big thing. There’s nothing good about war, though it’s a necessary evil. World War II was fairly popular, as wars go and there was no shortage of men lining up to enlist. Today, there’s a host of doctors, lawyers, accountants and other professionals who want to get their ink done, but don’t want to risk hindering their employment options, or need to comply with a dress code or a particular image.

Contrary to popular belief, theirs really nothing ethnically significant about such designs, other than they are loosely inspired by the elaborate tattooing practiced by the people of the Polynesian islands. You wouldn't let your three year old paint your walls (even though they want to) and you don't want some hack inking your skin. You can repaint walls easily enough, but that's just not the case with your body. There is no more precious real estate in the world. You have a finite amount of it and it's not going to last forever, treat it as though it were worth a million bucks and you might just be underselling yourself.

Instead of being in a rush to just get another tattoo, you can actually slow down and enjoy the process for a while. Tattoos Are Not Just For Bikers Anymore!

In the distant past, <a href="https://businesson.mobi/all-about-tattoo" target="_blank">tattoos</a> had the smallest modicum of acceptance, primarily based on the people who wore them. When military men came back to the States after serving overseas, it was difficult to express too much negativity about the names of their sweethearts or "Mom and Dad" emblazoned on their arms. It's likely that the acceptance was more for the wearer than the tattoo, though, for tattoos had not attained a degree of respectability with the American public in general. As syphilis became more widespread, and with the less-than-sanitary tattooing procedures adding to its increase, New York City eventually banned tattooing, and did not make the practice legal again until 1997. 
 
As disdain for the military began to spread across the United States, so did a new counter-culture. To most Americans during that time-period, the word "tattoo" was synonymous for those who were outside of the mainstream of America, thumbing their noses at society. It brought to mind the fringe-element of undesirables, from the widely-movie "Easy Rider" to the infamous Hell's Angels. Greasy individuals who rode motorcycles and displayed obnoxious artwork on various parts of their bodies-- bikers were only "cool" amongst their own kind, and thought of in a very unfavorable light by most of the American population. Although in some locales, especially those with Navy bases, tattoos continued to enjoy a moderate degree of acceptance throughout the 'seventies, they still were not considered a respectable means of personal expression within the mainstream population. The younger generation who lived in these areas, with the usual curiosity of youth, often frequented tattoo parlors and began to make tattoos a part of their lifestyle. As these were usually young adults whose lifestyle included drug use and too much alcohol, their embracing the practice of tattoos did not assist in convincing the older generation that there was anything positive about it. One tattoo artist who practiced in the Navy town of Port Hueneme, California, remarked that the types of individuals whose lifestyle included tattoos were the kind of people who "don't usually make it to forty years old." 
 
Also commenting that tattoos are "a fever," he shed some light on the most negative aspects of this practice. Even though by law artists were not supposed to do such artwork on individuals who were in any state of intoxication, his clients were usually in either of two categories: those who requested tattoos while seriously under-the-influence, and the fainters. His tattoo studio had a large couch for the benefit of the latter. Young drug users and Navy men made up the majority of his customers. 
 
It was not until the early eighties that tattoos began to gain positive exposure. With the Long Island based band "The Stray Cats" appearing on the cover of the music magazine Rolling Stone, not only did this bring the rockabilly music style back into popularity it was also one of the first steps in helping tattoos gain widespread appeal. In stepping away from the coarse music of that particular time-period, the Stray Cats' scope was that of good clean music and good clean fun; and tattoos were a part of that image. Suddenly everybody wanted to be a part of it all, including the tattoos; and although it was often to the chagrin of the older generation, tattoos began to have less negativity attached to them. 
 
As tattoos ceased to be solely connected to the counter-culture, they started to appear on everybody. In the following years they started showing up on average Americans all across the United States. Tattoo studios sprung up in cities that had colleges and universities, making tattoos an accepted part of life for students. As the people in that age group became older, their tattoos remained, as well as the interest in tattoos developing amongst the newer younger generation. In most parts of the United States they are now commonplace, and considered to be just a basic form of self-expression.

The perfect tattoo ?

When it comes to tatoo designs you're going to have to face the fact that you might never find the perfect tattoo. It's not that awesome tatoo designs don't exist, it's that there are so freakin many great tattoos from awesome artists all over the world that it is virtually impossible to sort through them all in a single lifetime. Really, you could look at thousands of tattoo designs every day for years and never even get close to seeing even a fraction of them. Luckily, you're not stuck with all bad news when it comes to finding the perfect art for your next tat. 
 
Maybe I'm just the anal retentive type. I figure if I'm going to wear this thing until I'm dead, it better be completely killer - something I want everyone to see. I certainly don't want to be stuck with a bad tat that I'm trying to hide a few months down the road. And hiding a tattoo is bad business. If it's in a private spot you're stuck with intimacy in the dark, if it's on an arm you're dealing with long sleeves in summer. And feet and ankles for women? Forget it, you're never going to get to ear cool sexy shoes again.

So I'm pretty picky when it comes to what I put on my body, even more so than what I put in my mouth. A bad tat isn't going to make you sick or kill you, but it can lead to a whole big pile of "holy crap why did I do that!" That's why I only have a few tats, I'm certainly not going for any records. And I never mess around with tatoo artists that don't really blow me away. 
 
What I've found is that there are two ways to find the perfect tatoo designs. One is by looking at a whole lot of really good designs, the other is by finding a fiendishly good artist to ink them. Unfortunately, neither one is cheap. But I figure that spending a little more now can lead to years and years of loving a tattoo, while being cheap can leave you wanting it off in just a few days. 
 
That's why it's always a good idea to sign up for a couple of really good tattoo art sites when you're serious about finding a great tattoo. What you can't do all by yourself, looking at millions of tats, thousands of other people have done. Tattoo collection online have lots of tatoo designs, won't cost you a fortune, and all the really crappy ones have already been thrown out. It turns the problem from trying to find enough tatoo designs to look at into how in the world will you ever decide between all the great ones? 
 
Finally, never scrimp on the artist. And unfortunately this is going to mean meeting maybe more of them than you would like and even traveling to find the very best ones. It's also going to mean some time tracking down folks they have inked and checking out the finished product on the skin. There's guys who can draw and guys (and of course, gals) who can really ink. They aren't always the same. If you have had the name of a loved one tattooed on your body and then have come to love them a little less – or a lot less, more suitably – then you may well be well advised to get the tattoo removed unless you have no plans to ever date again (or only date people of that name who are really gullible). Be advised though that as well as costing money, this is surgery that hurts, and tends to take a couple of goes to remove – and even then you are left with a patch of bare, sensitive skin. 
 
Sure, you should not go through life with a tattoo you hate, but this is more a matter of thinking really hard before you get a tattoo. When NOT To Get A Tattoo

There are plenty of good times and good reasons to get a tattoo. However, there are also times when getting a tattoo should be ruled out of the question for perfectly good reasons. The situations may vary. One’s reason for not getting a tattoo at a given time may depend on their own personal feeling, the attitudes of others, things in the pipeline that may be affected by getting a tattoo, and more. There are also certain physical circumstances which make getting a tattoo a very bad idea, although for the most part these are generally temporary. 
 
If you do not feel 100% certain about a tattoo for any reason – the fact of getting the tattoo itself, or the design not being quite as you’d like it – then you should not let the needles touch your skin. It’s going to be there for the rest of your life, so do not get a tattoo you might not be happy with. You should also take into account what other people say. Perceptions About Tattoos And Tattooed People

The act of getting a tattoo may well put you at odds with a lot of people, and there are many who will quite openly state some very negative things about a person with a tattoo – and the more tattoos, the more negative the comments. 
 
Is there any justification behind this? 
 
There is a correlation in some people’s minds between tattoos and violence. This is possibly understandable but generally misguided. Perhaps a lot of violent people have tattoos, but this does not mean a lot of tattooed people, proportionally, are violent. Someone with no tattoos at all could punch someone with several. Then there is the argument about the “tramp stamp”. There is a theory – mostly spread by men – that women with a tattoo on the small of their back are sexually promiscuous. The theory goes that if they are willing to draw attention to that area then they must want the area to be explored more closely. The only answer to this theory is to recommend that those who believe it say so directly to a woman with such a tattoo. Then they should count their bruises and think again! :-)

Having one <a bitly="BITLY_PROCESSED" href="https://businesson.mobi/all-about-tattoo" target="_blank">tattoo</a> or more, or even a body covered with them, does not make you stupid, violent or promiscuous – any more than wearing a hat makes you Mexican. No Pain .. no Gain?

Anyone with prominent tattoos will have been asked the question more than once, and however many times they have answered the question keeps coming. Does it hurt? The true answer to the question is that it does, but not all that much. It feels like being scratched a little bit, it feels a little bit hot, but it is not agony and in general is not enough to put most people off getting a second tattoo, should they want one. During the course of the average day there are a few of us who will go through more pain and think nothing of it. 
 
If the pain is too much to bear, then this is for one of two reasons : 
 
Firstly, it is possible that you could either be prone to pain when getting a tattoo or Secondly the tattooist is less than talented.

Most tattooists, however, are more than talented enough to know how to minimise pain and suffering, and will also have the job done as quickly as possible so that the suffering ends quickly. If you do take a painkilling injection or treat the area with anaesthetic cream beforehand, there is a real danger of swelling the skin, which will make any resultant tattoo look bad anyway. 
 
The fact is that if getting a tattoo is too painful, or the thought of the pain is too much to bear, then tattoos probably are not for you. It doesn’t make you a wimp or anything, it just suggests that you should find another way to adorn yourself. :-)

Perhaps the most identifying characteristic of a tattoo is its permanence. Think about it; every time you mention finally getting that tattoo you’ve been on the fence about for years, someone always chimes up and reminds you that you won’t be able to take if off if you ever change your mind. So, for fear of regret and not wanting to hear any “I told you so” declarations from family and friends, you have thus far carried on with your life as an inkless individual. But that perfect tat design is always in the back of your mind isn’t it? 
 
Well stay tuned, because what you’re about to read will shatter everything you know about body art and might be just the thing you need to hear to finally get that tattoo out of your mind and onto your skin. Researchers at the Harvard Medical School have developed a special tattoo ink that can be totally and painlessly removed with no scarring. 
 
First, understand that the coloring currently used in tattooing is not really ink, but various pigmenting agents ground up and mixed with a carrier solution. The solution serves a couple of functions: to sterilize the pigments and make them smoother and easier to work with. Though these inks fall into the category of things that could be regulated by the FDA, they are not. Ink venders don’t even necessarily have to disclose the contents of their products. Their have been reports of carcinogens and other contaminants that can poison the body and even be fatal. 
 
The new ink is the first ever such substance approved especially for tattooing. The color is enclosed in tiny particles that are designed to contain it forever. So a tattoo done in this manner can be permanent if you want in to. However, if you should decide that everyone else was right and you wish you hadn’t got the tattoo, it can be easily removed. The pigments carrying particles can be broken down through a simple, painless process and the color harmlessly absorbed and flushed out of the body. 
 
The there are a few choices of procedures for removing conventional tattoos, but they are pricey and painful. For example, one method uses a saline scrub to literally scrub away the layers of your skin until all the ink is washed away. There is another similar option that uses a material that works very much like sand paper. Even laser surgery is not risk free. It’s expensive and you may have to do it more than once. It even leaves a scar that’s basically shaped like the very design you’re so desperately trying to get rid of, so instead of having an unwanted tattoo that people are always asking about, now thy can ask how you got such an unusual scar. 
 
None of these methods are fool proof. All of them carry some risk and will not completely remove every trace of the offending body art. You will have traces of pigment left, if not a noticeable outline. If your tattoo is comprised of several different hues, it may require a separate treatment for each one. Unlike the new ink which dissolves completely with no scarring or residual pigmentation. 
 
Those involved in the tattoo industry like the idea of a clean ink, but are skeptical about it being temporary. They believe body art is a sacred tradition, made so by in part by the fact that it lasts forever. They also feel that taking away the consequences will crowd their ranks with people who aren’t serious about their art. The new ink is not expected to be on the market for another couple of years.

Celebrities Love Tattoos !

It is not really surprising to learn that many celebrities love tattoos, nor is it surprising that those who are in the public eye and in the media have quite a significant influence on the American population's fascination with tattoos. The stars have tattoos, so all of their fans want tattoos also. For celebrities, age is not a factor; older stars as well as the younger ones have them. We know all of these people-- but how much do we know about what unique styles of artwork they have? 
 
One of America's most longtime popular movie stars, Robert DeNiro, has appeared in movies sporting numerous tattoos. Whether or not his fans realize that they are only accessories for his films, the fact is in real life Robert DeNiro has only one tattoo, that of a black panther. Another actor who shows off many tattoos in his movies is Johnny Depp; all of his, however, are real. Bruce Willis also has a few tattoos; most notably the symbol of his movie "Die Hard." 
 
Tattoos have long been in style with musicians. Former teen idol Justin Timberlake has a guardian angel, amongst others. Rapper Eminem has more tattoos than can be counted, including his daughter's name and his own. The wording on Keith Urban's wrist, "Omni Vincit Amor" is Latin for 'Love Conquers All;' he also has an eagle on one arm. 
 
Some sports celebrities also go for tattoos. Michael Jordan has his fraternity symbol tattooed above his heart, while Dennis Rodman is a virtual canvas of artwork. 
 
Not to be outdone, many female stars also show various degrees of artwork. Young actress Drew Barrymore is essentially a canvas full of tattoos; it is said that she created most of the designs herself. Reese Witherspoon is more subtle, wearing only one small star tattoo which is rarely visible. Pamela Anderson has a variety of tattoos also, the most notable being the word 'Mommy' on one finger, which reportedly used to read 'Tommy.' Spice Girl Victoria Beckham has five stars to represent each member of her family, her husband's initials, and the traditional Jewish phrase 'I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine.'

Some of today's supermodels also sport tattoos. Kate Moss, Christy Turlington, and Stephanie Seymour all have these permanent forms of fashion accessories. Most supermodels who opt for tattoos show fewer and smaller designs than celebrities in other fields. 
 
While many celebrities have had tattoos for a very long time, the popularity of tattoos amongst stars has been increasing, both in the number of celebrities who have them and the number of tattoos that they have. A very few have only one tattoo; more and more are taking on a large number of tattoos as well as more and more visible tattoos, using skin as a canvas for nearly unlimited varieties of permanent artwork. 
 
As celebrities show off their tattoos, and this is picked up by the media, it presents an ever-increasing influence for their fans, especially amongst the younger generation, to want to do likewise. As with anything else that stars do in the public eye, their influence with tattoos helps this form of artwork become more widespread, more popular, and more acceptable to most of the American population in general.

The same is true of body art. Just like blue jeans, tattoo styles have changed through the years, but they are still a classic staple. Let’s explore the generational trends in tattooing. There’s nothing good about war, though it’s a necessary evil. World War II was fairly popular, as wars go and there was no shortage of men lining up to enlist. The Lady Luck tattoo was widespread among the military men. She was beautiful, and appeared in all stages of dress, surrounded by lucky talismans like four leaf clovers, eight balls and rabbit’s feet. She was believed to bring luck to the wearer, and who needs luck if not a soldier on his way to war? The Lady Luck was not particular to any one branch of the military. Generally speaking, service tattoos mark an entire generation, whether it’s bluebirds on the chest of a sailor, an anchor on his forearm, or Simper Fi on the shoulder of a marine, they’re a proud symbol of his service. Today’s armed forces still participate in the rich tradition of military tattooing, but due to the chronological gaps between wars that the current generation has been blessed with, the military no longer makes up as significant a part of the population as it has in times past. Previous generations held tattoos at a distance and perpetuated the stigma associated with them. Body art (it probably wasn’t widely considered art back then) was somewhat taboo for mainstream society. Tattoos were only for certain groups of people, like bikers, tramps and convicts. So, it’s probable that more risqué designs, like nude or topless women were done more often, because the people getting them were already outcast, and didn’t have to conform to social politeness because no one really expected it of them anyhow. While nude tattoos definitely still happen, more and more people are opting for more modest and less visible body art. This trend is probably supported by the fact that tattooing isn’t confined to such specific segments of the population. Today, there’s a host of doctors, lawyers, accountants and other professionals who want to get their ink done, but don’t want to risk hindering their employment options, or need to comply with a dress code or a particular image. In the <a class="zem_slink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1990s" title="1990s" rel="wikipedia">1990s</a> and early 2000s, tribal tattoos reached the height of their popularity. Contrary to popular belief, theirs really nothing ethnically significant about such designs, other than they are loosely inspired by the elaborate tattooing practiced by the people of the Polynesian islands. Tribal tattoos are characterized by heavy, bold black lines in patterns that often feature prominent jagged points. There was a time when women didn’t ever get tattooed, especially nice, respectable ones. My, how times have changed. Not only do ladies get inked, but all kinds of ladies get inked. The lower-back tattoo has been an overly popular choice for ladies in the last few years. Girls chose designs ranging from the ultra feminine butterfly, or a dainty little flower, all the way to heavy Celtic knots and more. Every tattoo makes a statement; the lower-back tat says “I’m still following the crowd, just the alternative one.” There are a lot of things that cause a rift between the younger generation and the older one. Often the one doesn’t understand where the other is coming from. About Temporary Tattoos

If you have never gotten a temporary tattoo before, they are very easy to apply. Sometimes temporary tattoos come in a sheet, while other times they come separately. Either way, cut the design so that is the only part of the tattoo that remains, with none of the sheet particles on it. 
 
The next thing you need to do is take off the plastic that is on the top of the tattoo. This is something that some people forget to do, and they move right on to the next step, thus ruining the tattoo. 
 
When the plastic has been removed, the next thing you need to do is place the tattoo on the area that you would like to have it be on. At this time, you should also have a wet sponge available. Once you have found a place for the temporary tattoo and placed it on the skin, take the wet sponge and wet the tattoo so that it is completely damp. 
 
Next, slowly slide the damp backing off, and the result should be a very realistic looking temporary tattoo! However, it should be noted that the less expensive the temporary tattoo, the more likely that it will quickly fade, so make sure you enjoy showing it off while it lasts! 
 
There are many benefits to having temporary tattoos as opposed to real ones. The most notable thing is that they are much easier to remove and are thus safer. Indeed, soap and water is much easier than lasers!
